Projects I forgot to list

Posted by on October 28, 2011

It was brought to my attention today by a co-worker reading this that there are a couple of other projects that I forgot to list that are also in the works.  Just in case anyone thinks that we don’t already have enough going on around this house.   LOL

Our downstairs bathroom is currently down to the studs.  The only thing working in it is the toilet.  At least we have everything we need to put it back together.  We bought all the tiles for it a while ago, just haven’t gotten to it yet.

And a wall in the living room was removed.  The wall got removed because it has a combination of paneling and drywall and would make popping sounds all the time.

We were also talking about taking the old brick off and putting the same stone that we had put on the front of the house around the fireplace to kind of tie it all together.

This was last years project. This is the brick we want to put on the fireplace. This goes along the whole front of the house.

We got an eye opener looking at the fireplace.  We knew we needed to replace some bricks inside the firebox but the mortar had started to disinegrate and there was a hole behind the top piece of concrete.  That wouldn’t be so bad except that hole led directly into the firebox and heat was coming out of there and behind the paneling and drywall.  That scared the both of us.  Not sure how we have managed to not burn the house down.

The gap between the wood and the cement slab is open into the firebox and this is where the heat was coming through

In case anyone has noticed, we don’t sit still very well.  Our outdoor project kind of took priority during the good weather so everything inside got started but then put on hold.  We consider these bad weather projects since they are indoors.

Anyway, those are the other two projects that didn’t get mentioned.  Oh yeah and we had grand plans to get the house painted as well.  The paints sitting in the garage just waiting to hit the house.  I did manage to get some paint on the front of the house around the garage doors but that is as far as I made it.  I’m sure our neighbors just look at us and shake their heads thinking those crazy people are at it again.

Well, I think that brings our total projects going at the same time up to 5.  And of course we have more projects in the pipeline. Yes, we have been talking about more things we want to do.  Who needs to buy a new house.  When we get finished, I’m going to have one.  =)
